SMITHSONITE ?    Palermo Mine, Groton, NH
3.2 mm crystal
Species:           SMITHSONITE ?
Locality:          Palermo Mine, Groton, NH
Specimen Size: 3.2 mm crystal
Field Collected: From flat of John Reiner specimens
Catalog No.: A Bob Wilken specimen and photo
Notes: [bw] "A specimen from the Reiner Palermo flat had no ID. It fluoresces white in LW, creamier white in S & M wave. It decrepitates very slowly with very weak effervescence. And the crystal form is kind of a squashed rhombohedral form. So, as best as I can figure it's smithsonite...not something particularly common at Palermo. But, it IS on the Mindat.org list for there."

EPIDOTE    Power line site near Mount Mist, Warren, NH
19 cm terminated crystal
Species:           EPIDOTE
Locality:          Power line site near Mount Mist, Warren, NH
Specimen Size: 19 cm terminated crystal
Field Collected: Don Dallaire & Ernie Schlichter, 1995
Catalog No.: A Don Dallaire specimen, #5410, and photo
Notes: [dd] "#5410 is the largest epidote I know of from NH. The crystal is 19 cm long and terminated. It was collected by me and Ernie Schlichter at the power line site near Mount Mist in Warren. Ernie trimmed all the specimens out of the 500 lb. (or should I say 227 kilo) quartz boulder we split & took home. We split up the specimens & Ernie got this one and it turned up in Tucson 2 years ago (2023) and I bought it. Amazing that I bought something I collected in 1995."

FLUORAPATITE on muscovite   Keyes Mine, Orange, NH
20 cm tall specimen
Species:           FLUORAPATITE on muscovite
Locality:          Keyes Mine, Orange, NH
Specimen Size: 18 cm close up view of 20 cm tall specimen
Field Collected: Keyes Mine miners
Catalog No.: A Don Dallaire specimen, #3435. Jeff Scovil photos
Notes: [dd] "The largest apatite crystals are 2.4 cm long. I purchased this from Bob Whitmore in 2011 and he got it at an auction of material from the Crystal Arrowhead shop that used to be in Bristol, NH. Bill Brownell was the owner of that shop and he got it from the miners in 1961. According to what Bob told me Brownell purchased that piece but the pocket was never fully excavated and subsequently buried."
